Lyn Poole
A former hairdresser and retired Met Police Officer, Lyn served 31 years in the police service, 16 of those years in uniform, front line and emergency response policing, in some of the busiest and diverse parts of London. As a Sexual Investigative Techniques Officer Lyn worked alongside Detectives as the close liaison and evidence collator for victims of serious sexual assaults. From 2005 Lyn focused her career more towards crime prevention, reducing the number of victims of crime and victim care, training as a Problem Solving & Police problem-oriented policing (POP) advisor. Lyn also then specialised as a Designing Out Crime Officer working with planners, architects and developers to design out crime in the built environment. Becoming the London technical advisor and London lead for the national Designing Out Crime Group run by Secured by Design Lyn became a permanent member of staff when she retired from the Police Service in April 2020. Whilst Lyn’s work seeks to prevent crime across the board, she has a real determination and commitment to reduce Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). A mother of two young women, Lyn has many interests outside of work and likes a challenge and to push herself outside of her comfort zone .
