Following a career in the armed forces, he was appointed as a Counter Terrorism Security Adviser within Wales in 2004, advising on events such as the G8 to the Ryder Cup. In 2009 joined the National Counter Terrorism Security Office part of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure, during which he developed the Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool assisting over 10,000 UK businesses. His portfolio included the protective security of iconic and critical national infrastructure sites within the UK and the training and development of all Home Office and Non Home Office police CT advisers (280+) and UK Special Forces. In addition he supported the Home Office and FCO in overseas deployments and security reviews of Embassies and the training of 18 EU member states in protective security. With many National responsibilities he was appointed to numerous boards including the National Barrier Asset, Policing of Party Political Conferences, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Venue Security Delivery Board, British Council of Shopping Centres and the Cross Sector Safety Communications and Technical Adviser to the EU project ‘Safety and Protection of built Infrastructure to Resist Integral Threats’ (SPIRIT). In 2012 he directed the security review of the Olympic Torch Relay. In late 2012 he resigned from public service and today owns ‘Covenant’ a specialist security consultancy, advising clients globally on high level security and providing Executive Protection.
