10 Random Facts About Gareth Williams

We’ve decided to kick off a brand-new ‘Get to Know’ series featuring our very own Senior Leadership Team!

We’ll be asking them 10 new questions to give an insight into their roles, lives, and personal interests. For our first edition, we chatted to none other than our Managing Director, Gareth Williams. Keep reading for more about his day-to-day life at Oprema, dream dinner party guests, and the best piece of advice he’s ever received…

 

1. What does an average day in your life at Oprema look like?

I’m an early riser so I find I’m normally up by 5am every day. The first thing I usually do is check in on emails and WhatsApp messages I’ve gotten during the night, and wish the rest of the SLT good morning before getting some exercise in at the gym or going out for a run.

In the office, I’m often in a lot of meetings, either with other members of the Oprema team or with our partners or customers. I also like to work closely with our different departments. It’s important to me to be offering support to my colleagues, and I’m always keen to be involved in the exciting things in the works at Oprema HQ!

2. What’s a crazy story that you have from your job?

Definitely has to be when one of Oprema’s founders got an Oprema tattoo!

3. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was very young, I wanted to be a pilot or a fireman. Then when I became a teenager I wanted to be an accountant because it fit with the subjects I was best at in school.

4. If you had to choose an entirely different job, what would it be?

This is going to sound really corny but I genuinely couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. I love what I do and I’m really happy with it!

5. Who would be your 3 dream dinner party guests, dead or alive…and why?

First would have to be my sporting hero, Roger Federer. He’s such an inspirational guy. With a career lasting the best part of 20 years, he really made the most of his talent and helped transform the game of tennis. Aside from that, he’s a family man, hard worker, and generally lovely guy. He’d definitely have to be one of my guests.

The other two would be John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I’d love to know what it was like for them to be part of a band that changed the world and the music industry at large, still holding such a large influence to this day.

6. What would you choose if you could only eat one food for the rest of your life?

Got to be steak and chips!

7. If you could master a talent overnight, what would it be?

To play the guitar…I have a huge passion for music but never learnt any instruments!

8. What is the best advice another person has given you?

The harder you work, the luckier you get.

9. If you could write a book on any subject, what would you choose?

I’d write a book on the music scene!

10. Which 3 words sum you up best?

Ambitious, supportive, and driven.
